Lumineers Are a Brand Name Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers :
Lumineers are a brand name porcelain veneers and are made at cernate laboratory whereby they sell their laboratory products, veneers and crowns, to dentists who then custom fabricate them to suit the patients needs. Dentists prefer to use lumineers as they are very thin and indistinguishable from natural teeth. They are thin veneers only about a half inch in thickness which are placed over the existing tooth to improve esthetics. The original tooth is carefully removed, the tooth is filled and a temporary veneer is devised.
Then when the permanent veneer is ready to be cemented on to the tooth, the dentist will place it on the tooth and a light is used to activate the cement. The porcelain veneer is then placed on the tooth and a special light beam is then used to activate the cement. The Lumineers are very thin and almost entirely invisible, they are virtually undetectable and a prominent front view is not achieved. What makes them so attractive to dentists is their resistance to discoloration and stains which is a big advantage over conventional Porcelain Veneers.
The two types are types are mentioned because they differ in their solutions for problems that normal veneers would solve. normal veneers are used to fix problems such as,
The Lumineers solution is used to create perfect smiles, teeth that are no longer than average size, teeth that have little toothvement and teeth that are whiter than the whites of your eyes.
Can be used to fix facial defects, porcelain and tooth-colored defects, disease and oxide browning, metal freckles, agging, wisdom teeth, rots and eye strains.
The Lumineers solution is very fast and efficient, much faster than the normal veneers process where usually you would have to wait about two weeks for the porcelain veneers to be made and two weeks for the fitting and attaching of the veneers.
Lumineers can be made of a single block of porcelain in the laboratory, or made of multi-tone porcelain and can also be fused to a single metal shell which can also be bonded to the tooth. When compared to porcelain veneers these newer systems are very advantageous. They are thinner, stronger and more durable. Although the Lumineers veneers are thinner than the traditional veneers the image is very similar to natural teeth and tooth appearance can be as good or better than the natural teeth.
The only downside in this thin porcelain veneers is that it requires for the tooth to be prepared before the procedure and this procedure can be done by a dentist or cosmetic dentist so is not easily performed in a general dental office. In addition it is not a done in one sitting but requires for the teeth to be prepared before the permanent veneers can be adhered to the teeth.
Before any procedure or product called cosmetic dentistry needs to be considered it is crucial for the dentist or aesthetic dentist to be educated on the subject. Cosmetic dentistry is a highly popular field of dentistry but unfortunately it is also one that is not well understood by the general public. This lack of understanding can be blamed on the minutework required on the part of the dentist. Plaque can build up on the teeth easily due to poor dental hygiene. Unless this is routinely and constantly removed it can lead to cavities and odor. Cosmetic dentistry can help you with these problems but only if you brush your teeth and floss daily. If you don’t, this is unlikely to happen and the plaque stays on your teeth. This built up problem is the buildup of tartar (calculus) that can not be removed by simply brushing your teeth.
To add to this problem is the fact that the enamel on the teeth can sometimes shrink, causing the teeth to have less exposed surface area making them look darker. This is scrutinized in by using undigested food.
In other cases the body can respond negatively to having white teeth. From the time we are forming our first teeth, white teeth could be avoided if we were to receive proper dental hygiene, eating a healthy balanced diet and respect our teeth and gums. An excess of acidic foods such as citrus fruits and juices can contribute to weakening tooth enamel. Some toxicity from the environment or heavy metal accumulation in the body can also cause tooth decay.
