Oak Knoll Book Fest
Every other year the Oak Knoll Book Fest takes place in New Castle, DE, a place that I had never been to, despite driving past it thousands of times on I-95 or going to school nearby at the University of Delaware. The Festival was the first weekend of October and this year was the first time I made it there, thanks in part to my favorite husband, JP, spending his birthday exploring the book arts world. Oak Knoll is an amazing shop with a wonderful collection of fine press, rare, and art books. It hosts the Book Fest which has a variety of speakers and exhibitors all focused on the book arts world.
Hand-Carved Alphabet Book sold to Peter Koch
This past April I finished my Hand Carved Alphabet Book. A project I had been working on for the past 3 years. I took the book to the Oak Knoll Book Fest to show Ray Nichols of Lead Graffiti, a letterpress printer, and book artist. While showing Ray the book, Peter Koch, a printer, and director of the Codex Foundation, came over to see it, and to my great surprise and delight, Peter decided to purchase the book!
It is difficult for me to express how special and important this was to me. To have my work be recognized and supported by someone who's work I admire, gave me tremendous confidence in my work as a book artist.
